Why has the Manx language disappeared at a certain time?
That is not a big problem.

It is because it is best to think that the Manx language is abolished as a byproduct of its extinction and social phenomena that can occur in any country and any place.
It is not uncommon things in the world that things and things that were once TRADITIONAL go down.
However, there are things that can be thought of as backgrounds leading to extinction.

From about the middle of the Middle Ages, the Isle of Man gradually entered under the influence of England, and it seems that the development of English since then has been a major external factor in the decline of the Manx language.
It can be said that the Man Island language declined rapidly during the 19th century and was replaced by English.

It is said that there were 16,200 people who used the Manx language for 54,000 population in Isle of Man in 1874.
This is 30% of the population.
On the other hand, at the same time, according to the book of J. G. Cumming in 1848, he said that "There are few people who do not speak English in Isle of Man, probably not at all in youth."

1921 For the population of 60,000 people, the proportion of people using Manx language is decreasing to 1.5%, the number was 896 and 1,000 less than 1,000, the prestige of the Manx language was declining.

Perhaps the times and societies in the future seem to be important in mastering English and there may be a tendency not to actively teach children their mother tongue.
This is a social phenomenon that can easily be imagined.

As a result of this influence, those who regularly use Manx language decreased to 0.5% ;275 people against 55,000 population in 1951 (By the official data of the Isle of Man Census) .

The last native speaker of the Manx language passed away in 1974 and Manx language was going away.

The Manx language which was “TRADITIONAL” disappears spontaneously, and English reigns as “NEW TRADITIONAL”. Naturally, it was inevitable flow of the times.
